Many communities and villages such as ours are coming under considerable pressure for more development in order to meet increasing housing needs. In the Barnsley Borough Council area it is estimated that 21,500 new homes will have to be built within the next fifteen years. The Oxspring Neighbourhood Plan will take a proactive stand on how new housing, and other development, could best be incorporated into our Parish in a sustainable and viable way. It aims to do this without compromising the essence of a rural environment and a community which is set within the limits of the Green Belt, the River Don and the Trans Pennine Trail.
A Vision for the Future of Oxspring
To maintain the character of a rural village whilst moving forwards with an infrastructure that will support 21st century living.
This Vision will enable us to keep a foothold in the past whilst moving the village forward.
